Douglas J. Rhee, MD
Dr. Douglas J. Rhee is Professor of Ophthalmology and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Rhee leads a molecular biology laboratory that investigates the regulation of extracellular matrix and its influence on intraocular pressure. His laboratory studies have been supported by the National Institutes of Health, numerous corporate partnerships, and foundation awards including the American Glaucoma Society’s Clinician-Scientist Fellowship and Mid-Career Physician-Scientist Award and the Physician-Scientist Award from Research to Prevent Blindness. Mentees in his laboratory have been supported by Fight for Sight and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His clinical interests have been predominantly in the areas of outcomes analysis of novel and traditional surgical procedures for the treatment of glaucoma.
