Course will cover the following: -Types of phakic IOL and its history -Anterior chamber IOL as a refractive surgery, pros and cons -Low dioptric power implantable phakic lenses for myopia less than -8 D as a safe tool for refractive surgery correction -Implantable phakic lenses for High myopia versus CLE - Non-refractive applications of phakic IOLs - Phakic IOL management of complications - Case-based discussion with panel - Questions and Answers
Educational Objective
I want to learner to be able to know: 1- Available phakic IOLs options: safety, efficacy, and indications 2- Phakic IOLs as refractive option 3-Phakic IOLs as non-refractive option including in Keratoconus and post keratoplasty 4- How to mange complications of phakic IOLs 5- Discuss available options with emphasis on pros and cons of each option to eventually reach a safe decision (case-based discussion) 6- Decision making when managing unhappy patients or unfavourable outcomes
