Phacoemulsification (PE) is a complex intraocular surgery, when mastered it is done under topical anesthesia (TA). Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) is less complex, so we think it can also be done under TA. After proper counselling in a patient needing PE with DMEK, we performed the surgery under TA. The intra-op and post-op outcomes are encouraging for PE with DMEK under TA.
